Before my work with Leslie, I was not unhappy in my job, but I had a dream I wanted to pursue. This dream would involve quitting my job and leaving a blossoming career path in order to work toward a certification that would likely help me in the pursuit of this dream job, but that was no guarantee that such a job—or any job—would be there for me once my certification was complete.

At the start of my time with Leslie, I remember telling her that there was no way I could actually do it; that I would never have the faith and courage necessary to give up a secure and lucrative job without first having something else lined up; without first knowing it would all work out in my favor. That’s one of the biggest differences Leslie has made in my life, in that over the course of our sessions, she helped me develop that faith and courage. Part of it was that she truly made the effort to get to know me and gently push me toward the kind of self-discovery and prioritization I needed in order to hone in on what was really important to me. The other part was that she helped me break the process down into many small but do-able steps, so instead of looking at my dream job as this big, impossible thing, I began to view it as not only possible, but actually realistic. From leveraging the right tools to networking with the right people, from researching my desired industry to attending strategic career events, I was able to quit my job with confidence, complete my certification, and land a job that couldn’t be more perfect for me.

Leslie would probably tell me that I did it all myself, but I know the truth, which is this: I would likely never have had the courage to go for this dream without her, and not a day goes by that I am not grateful for how she has impacted my life for the better.

After working in the same industry for 20 years, I realized I needed something different and more challenging. So when my children moved on to college, I was ready for a new career adventure. Leslie helped me to understand my strengths by asking thoughtful questions and talking through my answers. Her perspective and insight have been invaluable! As a result, I was recently promoted into a much more challenging leadership position that is allowing me to use my experience while learning new things. I continue to meet with Leslie for her guidance regarding this new role, but also to stay focused on my long-term goals.

After grad school, I sought Leslie’s counsel to better understand my emotions and reactions to unexpected challenges I faced in my new career.  I went into coaching not knowing what to expect, but walked away from every session with a renewed confidence, a deeper understanding of myself, and actionable steps forward.

Our sessions dived deep into personality dynamics from how I perceived myself to what is important to me to how I interact with other personality types.  I would wholeheartedly recommend Leslie to anybody interested in further exploring themselves, their career path or just generally what makes them “tick”.

I’m deeply grateful for my coaching relationship with Leslie, as she gracefully led me to deeper reflection and understanding of myself. I approached the coaching relationship as a quick fix for some challenges I had with career growth and with Leslie’s guidance, I was able to take my micro focus to a greater analysis on life and goals. I learned how to identify and build solutions for both my personal life and career – she helped lead me to the better me

I had the good fortune of walking into Leslie’s career services office at the Ross School of Business a little over five years ago. I needed help crafting resumes and cover letters for internships. Leslie provided fast, professional advice that helped me land the internship I wanted. However, she quickly moved past the surface issues related to getting a job to seek out the deeper me. While Leslie is a rock star career counselor, I believe her true calling is as a life coach.

Since then, she has been a tireless “believing mirror” for me. Taking the road less traveled, as I have done since graduate school, is fraught with uncertainty. When I doubt, she reflects back my most powerful, courageous, and positive self. When I’m about to go off a cliff, she brings me up short. There’s some magic in her mirror too, because she will often paint a picture of where I could be in the next six to twelve months that motivates me to keep moving forward. I don’t think you will find a coach who will work as hard to make sure that you live your potential. Leslie is a true treasure!

Each time I meet with Leslie, she helps me uncover several layers about myself and how I operate in the world. She has a talent of telling the hard truth in a way that’s palatable to hear. She helps me see who I am so that I can create a life that is truly authentic and meaningful.

I was already several months into my job search when a friend put me in touch with Leslie. Over the course of two months and four phone calls, Leslie listened to me, provided practical advice, emotional support, and all the motivation I needed to break into a new field and get my dream job. It was well worth the investment in my future: Leslie helped me to get a better job, sooner than I could have on my own. With her kind but firm guidance and flexible schedule, she was the ideal career coach. I highly recommend her.

In coaching sessions Leslie draws salient connections between current situations and my personality and past experiences. No matter what issue we discuss, she invariably provides deeply insightful feedback in a constructive way that shows her thorough understanding of people. She also balances the need for specific feedback and the space for self-insight.

One always feels understood, remembered, and cared about when speaking with Leslie. She does not seem to be intimidated by unconventional aspirations or situations. I believe that she is always on the lookout for new and different approaches to her client’s key challenges and opportunities.

When I was first put in touch with Leslie in September 2013, I was in a dark place. I had just quit a job that was a complete mismatch for me, without having anything else lined up. While I was eager to simply apply to advertised positions that seemed interesting, Leslie helped me realize that I needed to take a step back. I needed to give myself time to reflect and go through the self-assessment process, something I had not done before.

With Leslie’s guidance, I took advantage of many tools including the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, the Strong Interest Inventory, Strengthsfinder, and the Enneagram. She reviewed and interpreted my results, allowing me to see the themes that linked my results together. She encouraged me to conduct informational interviews, even volunteering some of her own network contacts. When I shared with Leslie what I learned in my interviews, Leslie was able to give clarity as to why certain aspects of other people’s careers appealed to me as well as link them to my assessment tool results.

In January 2014, I received a job offer. By using what I learned about myself since working with Leslie, I was able to confidently decide if the position would be a good fit for me. I started in February 2014, and can say now that this is the best job I’ve ever had. I am very optimistic about my future- a 180 degree turn from where I was before. Thank you, Leslie!
